You will notice that there is a panel on the end of the Youro note with no printing on it, this is to make it easy to hold up to the light and see the watermark on the security paper it was printed on. It also has a ultraviolet visible fibre in the paper.
Hi sorry to take so long to answer you . As we stated in our press releases etc at the time there are 3 main reasons to launch the Youro
1. To encourage people to shop locally and to think about the local economy.
2. To promote Kenmare as tourist destination
3. To raise awareness of how the global money system works and why the economic crisis has happened, despite warnings over the last 80 years.
For more explanation of the third point watch ” Money as Debt ” an animation on Youtube posted in 5 parts.
We will be making statements about the project as the year progresses. Youros are now for sale in NOEL & HOLLANDS BOOK SHOP Bridge street
I like the design. To make your currency totally stand out and be permanent, I recommend incorporating the silver barters into them. To learn how to do this, visit:
and look at the online presentations. If you want to talk more about it, just email me. (I’m in California, so calling would be expensive…) As you’ve already got the design for the scrips done, it would be a fairly simple matter to back them with silver barters.

What exactly is the point of having a unique currency for Kenmare? I don’t quite understand it.
Does it not cost quite a lot to get them implemented and printed? Would it not make more sense to use this money on something else?
Sorry, just wondering.
